Crisis-scapes is a storytelling research project in Porto, Portugal that uses photography and architectural drawings as tools to visualize public spaces and urban issues during the global pandemic. Conducted in the summer of 2022, this project uses four selected case studies to visually unpack the complex issues and multiplicity of cities within Porto, revealing layers of gentrification, a changing climate, social housing, community, and socio-economic inequality. To trace vulnerabilities and opportunities for urban appropriation within the social infrastructure of the city, this project asks: how can a crisis form acts of everyday resistance in the built environment and form opportunities for broader community engagement?
